I have been in close association on weaving projects with SEWA( Self Employed Women’s Association). During one of our meeting Villoo Mirza a friend and colleague in SEWA asked me to conducted training workshop for SABAH Nepal ( SAARC Business Association of Home Based Workers) - a non profit company. I welcomed the opportunity and we took it further commencing the working in March 2009.
SABAH had sent thirty talented women entrepreneurs to be trained with SEWA for various skills like embroidery, crochet, weaving, apparel, home furnishing and accessories making. Five of them Ms Tara, Mrs.Krishna, Mrs Laxmi, Mrs Budha and Mrs Bhabi - were weavers who came under my training course.
By the end of the course we develop 300 textures of treadle designs using cotton, hemp, nettle and banana yarns. I am proud to say these woven samples are now being used for various products and furnishing materials by their organization.
